Message by Ps. Max Meiruntu (Wednesday 19 September 2018)
20 Wisdom calls aloud outside; She raises her voice in the open squares. 21 She cries out in the chief concourses, At the openings of the gates in the city She speaks her words: 22 “How long, you simple ones, will you love simplicity? For scorners delight in their scorning, And fools hate knowledge. 23 Turn at my rebuke; Surely I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words known to you. 24 Because I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded, 25 Because you disdained all my counsel, And would have none of my rebuke, 26 I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes, 27 When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you.
28 “Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me. 29 Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the Lord, 30 They would have none of my counsel And despised my every rebuke. 31 Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own fancies. 32 For the turning away of the simple will slay them, And the complacency of fools will destroy them; 33 But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, And will be secure, without fear of evil.”
Proverbs 1:20-33 NKJV
There are three types of sinners:
Simple sinners: Naive people who believe anything
Scorners: They are proud, but don't do anything
Fools: They are ignorant of the truth and are stubborn
Wisdom is everywhere. Sometimes we've been given the wisdom, but we don't act upon the wisdom. Wisdom depends on us. We receive it, but it depends on whether we make the decision to act up on it.
When you receive the Word of God, open up your heart, study it and check it. Otherwise, you'll be just like the simple sinners who believe anything that is presented to them.
The only Gospel that exists is the Gospel of Christ. It is the power of God and the wisdom of God.
How does wisdom speak?
6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, 7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert[a] the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be [b]accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I still pleased men, I would not be a bondservant of Christ.
Galatians 1:6-10 NKJV
The church's task is to proclaim the gospel of Christ everywhere. Wisdom is the voice of salvation. So when we receive the wisdom of God, we are receiving the voice of salvation.
We have been blessed to bless others.
We have been saved to save others.
